This report card for special education in Missouri highlights the importance of monitoring quality, especially in the context of Missouri disability resources. If there are failing standards, be sure to use your vote wisely in Board of Education elections, as special education advocacy is crucial. Remember, one term for a BOE election lasts 3 years, while two terms represent 6 years — that’s half of a student's education.
Department of mental Health
The Missouri Division of Developmental Disabilities was established in 1974 to support the unique needs of individuals, family members, and caregivers who experience a developmental disability (DD). This Division recognizes that individuals, along with their supporters, possess diverse strengths, abilities, needs, and challenges. They also provide essential crisis support through their 24-hour helpline, which connects users with various Missouri disability resources. Many community outreach programs are funneled through their office once a case is set up. Additionally, they are involved in special education advocacy to further assist those in need. For support, you can reach the St. Charles satellite office at 119 Olympic Way, St. Peters, MO 63376, by calling 636-926-1200.
